How to Correct a Slide on Icy Roads

There are a few things that you can do when you start to feel your car slide in icy road conditions. Most of the time, you are simply going too fast on an icy road. Your wheels can lock when you brake, making it difficult to stop when you want to. As you start to slide, you should also keep calm and correct the car by turning the steering into the slide.

This will force the car to correct, but if you turn too hard, you could also cause damage and even over-correct, which could be dangerous as well. You want to make sure that you are turning the steering wheel gently as you brake just as lightly. You don't want to accelerate at all during this correction.

You can get weather alerts, snow tires, and lots of other goodies to help you in the winter months. Check out the service department at Auto Team Delaware located in Wilmington, DE.
